      There is currently an extraordinary amount of interest in nanomaterials and nanotechnologies, terms now familiar not only to scientists, engineers, architects, and product designers but also to the general public. Nanomaterials and nanotechnologies have been developed as a consequence of truly significant recent advances in the material science community. Their use, in turn, is expected to have enormous consequences on the design and engineering of everything from common consumer products to automotive, aerospace, and other industries. Functionality of textile materials has been highlighted in recent years because of the deterioration of the environment. Adding nanomaterial and nanotechnology into textile industry, and endowing various functionalities to textile products will be the future thrust. College students in the major of textiles should have an overview of nanomaterials and nanotechnology. In this course, nanomaterial and nanotechnology, basic effect of nanomaterials, 0-D, 1-D, and 2-D nanostructures, nano-textiles, as well as other applications of nanomaterials will be introduced.

在充满生机的21世纪,纳米技术将在新的工业革命中起到关键作用,而纳米技术的基础是纳米材料, 各种学科的发展必然对材料提出新的要求;环境的恶化,使人们对纺织材料的功能性,包括抗紫外、红外吸收、防辐射等要求越来越多。纺织工业为人们提供全面小康的“丰衣”的同时为其他工业和行业提供重要的原材料,这些都需要纳米技术的应用以提供更多的功能性、创新性纳米纤维材料。本课程结合纺织工程专业的特点,系统学习一般工科专业所要了解的材料基础知识,对世界材料的最新发展,对于纳米技术在纺织中的应用有一定的了解。
